Microneedling, what is it?
Hello, welcome back to the TATR blog!
This is a simple and concise introduction to Microneedling as I want to clear up a few misconceptions about what it is and what it can be used for. I have had a few patients shy away from this treatment as they felt worried about the dreaded word ‘needle’ being in there. Let me explain a little more about Microneedling and WoW fusion ™ .
What is Microneedling?
It is a form of collagen induction therapy (CIT). Multiple small (tiny, honestly) needles are used to make tiny punctures in your skin. This forces the body to produce more collagen (Collagen is an essential protein that helps keep the skin looking youthful, with a firm, smooth, and stretchy texture) when it repairs these tiny punctures. Over several weeks the collagen production will continue and your skin will appear fresher and rejuvenated.
What do we use to do Microneedling?
There are several devices available for this procedure. A dermal roller, a dermapen or a stamp. Here, at The Aesthetic Treatment Rooms, we use both a dermapen and a stamp. The stamp is used as part of our WoW fusion ™ /WoW facial ™ treatments, where the microneedling stamp is used to deliver a cocktail of micronutrients and rehydrating serums into your skin. Both treatments give your skin a wonderful glow!
How big are the needles?
The WoW fusion ™ device has 20 gold plated needles in the stamp that are only 0.13mm wide and 0.6mm long. A similar size to a human hair! The dermapen has between 12-42 needles and the depth of these can be adjusted depending on what they are required to do.
What results will you see?
Typically this kind of treatment is great for a general refresh, especially alongside the WoW Facial ™ . It encourages blood flow to the skin surface and encourages collagen formation. It can help with dull skin, acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles and stretch marks.
Microneedling can be a little bit uncomfortable but I think the glowing skin makes it all worthwhile. For further information or to book an appointment just sent us a message. See you soon!
